Christian Olsen
As part of its 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2006 the group founded an Annual Fellowship to be awarded to an artist who had recently graduated from a Welsh Art School. It is intended that this Fellowship should offer a young artist the opportunity to exhibit alongside established artists and also experience the preparing for the variety of exhibition venues hosting the Group's exhibitions in any one year.

Each year the Group invites relevent staff from each Welsh School of Art to nominate a student who submits a selection of work, together with a C.V. and related statement of application.
The successful candidate is selected by the Group's Executive comprised of seven practising artists. It is hoped that in awarding this Annual Fellowship; Group56Wales can assist young artists in the early, and sometimes difficult stage of their career, when it may be difficult for them to maintain the support and momentum they experienced at Art School.
